The Pitch Pizza Tracker · pitchpizzatracker.com
A press & media reference for journalists, editors, and the curious.

In one line. The Pitch Pizza Tracker is a deadpan, real-data dashboard that watches free, public signals around ten Chicago advertising-agency buildings for the late-night surge that hints at a new-business pitch in progress — the Pentagon-Pizza-Index idea, pointed at adland and measured in deep dish.

What it is

It’s a satirical OSINT art-and-commentary project. Every number on the board is real and live; the framing — an “Office of Creative Activity Monitoring” issuing a “Chicago Metro Pitch Condition” on a DEFCON-style star meter — is the joke. It’s a tongue-in-cheek peek inside advertising “war rooms” — the late nights where agencies crunch to hit new-business pitch deadlines, and crunch on pizza. The data underneath, though, is genuine and public.

How it works

Each evening (roughly 3–10 PM Central, all week), a collector pulls free, public signals near each agency’s building and blends them into a 0–100 “pitch index” per building; the metro rolls up to a 1–4 condition shown on a Chicago-flag star meter.

Honest by design

No fabricated data, ever. If a signal has no live reading, the board shows “no data” — never a guess — and the index uses only the signals actually present. Company and agency names are used nominatively, for commentary; HoneyWired is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or surveilling any company or person, and any named party can be removed from the monitor at their request, no questions asked. Full details are in the Terms & Disclaimer.

Why we’re really watching

The bit is a joke about advertising. Real “war rooms” aren’t. If the tracker got your attention, point a little of it somewhere it counts: World Central Kitchen is on the actual front lines, serving fresh meals to families caught in the middle of disasters. A pizza here is a punchline; a meal there is a lifeline.

Frequently asked questions

What is The Pitch Pizza Tracker?
The Pitch Pizza Tracker is a satirical, real-data dashboard that watches free, public signals around ten Chicago advertising-agency buildings for the late-night surge that signals a new-business pitch in progress. It is operated by HoneyWired LLC and is, in effect, the advertising industry's version of the Pentagon Pizza Index.

How does it work, and what data does it use?
Every evening a collector reads only free, public signals near each agency building: live "popular times" busyness at nearby pizzerias, public freelance and contract job postings, industry-news chatter, and bike-share departures. Each agency gets a 0–100 "pitch index," and the metro rolls up into a 1–4 "Chicago Metro Pitch Condition."

Is the data real, or is it satire?
Both. The framing is a deadpan joke, but every number is real and computed from public signals — nothing is fabricated. If a signal has no live reading, the board shows "no data," never a guess. The readings are inferences from indirect public signals, not statements of fact about any company's business.

Who made it?
HoneyWired LLC, an independent Illinois creative-technology studio, created and operates The Pitch Pizza Tracker — which even includes its own office on the board.

Why does it link to World Central Kitchen?
Beneath the bit is a serious nudge: advertising "war rooms" are the only ones where the worst casualty is a missed deadline and cold deep dish. The site links to World Central Kitchen, which serves fresh meals to families on the front lines of conflict and disaster. HoneyWired collects no funds and takes no cut.

How is it related to the Pentagon Pizza Index?
It is the advertising-industry spin on the "Pentagon Pizza Index" — the long-running observation that late-night pizza orders near the Pentagon can spike before major news breaks. The Pitch Pizza Tracker points the same idea at Chicago adland's late-night pitch crunch.

Can a named agency opt out?
Yes. Company names are used for commentary only (nominative fair use); HoneyWired is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or surveilling any agency or person. Any named party can opt out by emailing DMCA@honeywired.com and will be removed, no questions asked.
